In Stockholm the amount of electric scooters has exploded. Only during this summer they’ve gone from 14000 to 21000 on the streets of the Swedish capital. They’re a big divider. Either you love them or you hate them. The politicians are not satisfied with the situation, the scooters are parked without judgement and the accidents are increasing. But yet the companies are free to offload even more scooters – without having to pay to the City of Stockholm. Drivers can get fined for riding on sidewalks or riding two persons on one scooter. The companies can get fined for bad parking or not collecting dumped scooters, but that’s not happening on a large scale. This is going to be a big political debate during the autumn.
